Formal Elements
Metropolitan Museum of Art:
St. Ives Bridge, St. Ives, Huntingdonshire
William Fraser Garden (British, Chatham 1856-1921Huntingdon)
Lines: Horizontal, Vertical, Slanted
Shape: Organic and Geometric. This picture has the buildings, bridge, water, and trees as the positive space, the clouds and sky would be the negative space. It shows a few implied shapes but not many like the ark of the bridge with the water.
Value: Implied light
Color:Blue as a primary color. More secondary and tertiary colors. The value of the colors vary from light and dark but it is a very dim picture. Can sense coolness.
Pattern: Reflections throughout the picture.
