-Mona Lisa (1503-1519) by: Leonardo Da Vinci, Oil on poplar
What seems to be one of the most known and discussed work of all times is Leonardo Da Vinci's portrait of a woman with a subtle, yet ambitious appearance. The Mona Lisa is a representational portrait composed of earthy colors It is realistic, yet enhanced in a manner. She is the focal point, and there is values identified in her skin tone. The Mona Lisa also has an atmospheric perspective, as seen in the background.

Known as one of the most popular artwork of Van Gogh's collection, The Starry Night displays an overview of a town on a deep blue night. Above the buildings is the divine depiction of a starry, swirling night sky. Some elements included in The Starry Night are geometric shapes, complementary colors (blue, yellow), vertical lines, rhythm in the stars and unity.

Artist choose to work with paint because the variety of paint is endless, there are always way to utilize creativity with paintings. Painting allows artist to capture their own style and signature of work, making it easier for them to convey emotions and expressive thoughts. I personally feel that everybody on this earth has the ability to created artwork using paint, despite age, gender, race, etc. Painting is so versatile, there is no need to make what is so simple complex. Artists generally acknowledge the components of colors, brush stroking techniques, formal and visual elements, and materials. The pros of painting is that painting is very versatile and flexible. Painting a picture is an easy way to show character while being creative and fun. One downside of painting is that it can be very messy!
A painting is 2D, which is the process of art, using paint. It can be either be in a picture or used for decoration. The materials used to make a painting are paint, brushes, canvas, palettes and water. There are different types of paintings such as Acrylic, oil and water color.
ReplyDeleteLes Demoiselles de'Avignon by Pablo Picasso. Oil on canvas.
Pink Snow by Peter Doig. Oil on canvas.
Pirate by Willem de Kooning. Oil on canvas.
Paintings will last through time by having it shown and kept in a museum. An artist will work with a certain material because it is their style and they are comfortable with it. One has to know the formal elements that makes a painting and how to paint. A painting can be anything you want it to be, especially an abstract painting. An artist has to have a unique imagination with creativity. Artists paint to express themselves using shapes, colors and lines.
